Atos de Fala- AdF rises from the concept of speech acts, which minds texts’ capacity of action. That is, what a text enables to movement when delivered. Examples are so many, and our most recent addressings may range from gay couples’ struggle to say “yes!” to each other in front of a judge - and therefore being perceived by the state - to how we deal with promises at electoral times. The power of words ever perpetuates forces of action. AdF has been conceived motivated by such forces. We are interested in investigating how different forms of text re-elaborate scenes, images, and objects. Thus, we shaped this festival on lecture-performances, video-essays and archive-sculptures, three modalities expliciting each its own performativity.

ABOUT AdF.14

In each edition, a motto is created to AdF so artworks dialogue to one another. This year, we have proposed the framework we call Geographies of Diaspora. The nomad processes that generate this geography are many, and especially those that the participant artists propose in return. Through their works we may discern a network of meanings and emotions that exudes strong scents of urban ambivalence, becoming-forces of the wild, collective constructions of soundscapes, relationships between colonialism and gender imbalance, anthropologies of the outskirts, of casual encounters, of fictional non-identitarian communities, and all clustered lines of forces that expand geography on its own diaspora, making of the space pure relationship, thus setting it in its constant remaking of itself.
